Decorating & Design

One thing that I’m really enjoying about my job is that I am learning so much about the way presentation really makes a difference to people’s first impressions. At work, I have to pay close attention to how things are visible to the user, if it’s relevant, and also if it’s usable in the easiest way.

It may not seem like it relates, but this has sparked my interest in design. I have started a few craft projects (trying to design blogs, choosing items for my apartment, etc.) and have had a fun time deciding how things look.

I know that when I move into my new place I will really have an outlet for this. Pics to come!! 23 days.

My new *interesting* chapter in life…

Time seems to fly by so fast. I remember what it felt like just a few weeks before graduation and thinking, “What’s next?!”

I’ve always been one to look forward to what was next, but this especially applies to now. As of May 8th, I will be in my own apartment!! I was originally looking into apartments close to where my family is, but after driving the 45 to hour-long drive to and from work everyday, I figured I should live closer to where I work I will definitely post pictures when I’m all set up. Hopefully the time goes fast, because I’m very excited about getting my new apartment together and making it mine!!

Some really big news is that Russell and I are pretty confident that we are getting married next year, so this apartment is where we will both be living. That makes the excitement go up about 8243489 points! He is going to start moving in his things later this summer so we can start setting it all up for married life.

Can you tell I’m on cloud nine right now? =-)

Wedding Weekend

So this weekend Russell and I saw my friend Rachel get married. As more and more of my college friends are getting married, I realize that we are all growing up. It’s really kind of hard to believe!

We were college roommate for about 2 years. Time really does fly!!

Happenings

So we’re not getting Mr. Pipp. :-( Sad day. After looking at apartments this past weekend, Russell and I decided that we couldn’t have two dogs. I initially wanted to rescue a pug and get a puppy, but now we’re going to stick with just a puppy. It’s probably best that way since we will be able to raise the pug ourselves. My dad said we could get one for Christmas, which is way exciting. So maybe in December, we’ll see something like this:

christmaspug

Okay, I PROMISE- this will be my last post about pugs for a while. :-)

Spring Break is next week! Woo-hoo!! Even though I don’t get a Spring Break, I’m still very excited because Russell does and we get to spend more than a week together!! This will be great. Hopefully we can go to a cheap comedy club (we’ve only found expensive ones) and just relax and watch some movies together. It will be really nice to spend so much time with him.

So my good friend Jenn is getting married in May and I finally got around to getting my maid of honor dress. I’ve been putting it off and randomly walked into David’s Bridal yesterday to see if they had any that I could use in my size. I really lucked out because I found a dress in the correct color, in my size, and on sale. Woo-hoo!! So now I just have to stick with my running routine so I know I will fit into it in May! We shall see how that goes…

Pug Rescuing

So I am very excited about next week. On Friday, Russell and I are going to meet Mr. Pipp!! He is a pug I am interested in rescuing through the DFW Pug Rescue. Here is a picture of the cute little guy:

What a cute little guy he is.

What a cute little guy he is.

Mr. Pipp is a “Pughasa,” or a Pug & Lhasa Apso hybrid. We are meeting him next Friday and spending the whole week with him during Russell’s spring break. I will definitely take more pictures of this little guy!! Plus, I’m sure I will have a ton of stories to tell. :-)

Pugawha?

So I have this adoration for pugs, and lately I have been googling pug mixes. It has been very interesting.

Pugapoo (Pug + Poodle)

This one looks cute, and I always see ads for them in the local newspaper. Plus, since I’ll be living in an apartment soon, a good thing is that it doesn’t shed.

Puggle (Pug + Beagle)

I think the Puggle is absolutely adorable. Only a few problems concerning apartment life: It inherits the Beagle’s howling trait…. I’m sure my neighbors would love that. It also sheds, as opposed to the Pugapoo.

So what do you think? Should I get a Pugapoo, a Puggle, or a….

Pug?

For me, I’m thinking Pug. I love them. But I still wonder what the world would be like with the Puggle or Pugapoo…. Hmmmm.

Exhausted

Today I am absolutely exhausted and will actually be going to bed at 10:00 pm! That’s an hour early for me. For some reason, I have not been getting to sleep as long as I’d like to for the past couple of nights. I worked out a couple days ago to a program called “Slim in 6,” and my whole body has been aching ever since.

I need to get my rest tonight because tomorrow, my love, Russell, will be here! I’m so excited to see him this weekend. We’ve been doing really well with seeing each other every weekend. It makes the distance feel almost nonexistent that way!

Tomorrow I plan on tackling a spreadsheet I’ve been avoiding at work, so off to bed I go!! :-)

Sweet Moments, First Steps

I work at a church nursery every Wednesday. I usually don’t look forward to it before I go in because I’m already tired and just want to read a book for the rest of the night, or now, research SEO for my new job. I don’t know why I have this feeling when each week I always leave feeling like I just spent time with some of the coolest kids on the planet. =-) Tonight was no exception.

I got to help a little girl take some of her first steps tonight. It was such a remarkable thing to see and be a part of. She has some health issues that prohibit her from using her muscles correctly (it will take her a lot longer to learn how to use them than other kids), so to help her achieve this was so amazing for me. She was grinning from ear to ear and didn’t want to stop. I am very excited about being able to help her again next week!

Writing and THE Job

So tonight I was talking to my aunt on the phone and we were discussing our writings. She was contemplating different writing approaches for a novel she wants to begin writing, and it got me thinking, I have not felt very inspired to write lately….

I know that I currently do not have the desire to write a novel, but I do enjoy short stories… Does anyone have any unique writing prompts or topics for me to consider? My lack of inspiration is really bugging me, so I thought I would ask my few readers to help me out with this one…. :)

*******************************************************************************

So, I am REALLY enjoying my job. I’m learning a whooooole lot about SEO and the little things that come with it. It has been really neat to see and be a part of what makes and keeps a website running. Every dad I learn something (usually a whole lot) new, and it has been fun to actually DO the work, instead of hearing a professor lecture about it all day. I am definitely enjoying the other side of college- doing what you are learning about makes it so much more exciting! Granted, I do miss being able to take a nap at any given moment. Although, I don’t think taking naps will ever beat being able to say, “Back when I was in college….” like I’ve been out of school for years (as opposed to a little over a month). =-)
